The Devil

A sea of darkness engulfed her. Dark shadows danced around her. Her body trembled with each breath, choking on the thick misty air. She didn’t understand what was happening. Everything seemed to move so fast. She tried to scream for help, but was only greeted with a harsh, throat splitting, cough. She tried to wriggle her petit and fragile body in the pool of darkness in search for a way out, but with epic failure. From a distant, the devil laughed, enjoying and welcoming the pleasure of her pain and sorrow.

The laughter -suddenly- stopped. No longer heard. Instead, silence took over in the dark surrounding. It was so strong, it rang painfully in the ears of the listeners. The girl seemed to go numb, her confusion only dug deeper. That was not for long though.

It was like some change in time, a millisecond that seemed to pass in hours in the girls perspective. In this millisecond, she felt the tears the laughter, the happiness and sorrow. All the memories flashing before her eyes at the speed of light. But even then, she could recall every moment. She watched herself evolve into who she is today. Every picture held a story that takes hours to tell. The girls eyes swelled with tears.

She no longer felt the numbness nor pain. Her throat felt fresh. Her coughs have stopped. The thick and misty air vanished and replaced with a fresh smell of roses. The devil was nowhere to be seen. For he ran away, now scared of her capability…
